WORLD DAY OF THE SICK

Image
February 11 is World Day of the Sick, founded by Pope John Paul II on 13th May, 1992 as a way for believers to offer prayers for those suffering from illnesses and their caregivers. The Pope was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 1991 which was later confirmed in 2001. It is believed that his illness was the drive for him picking this day. On this day, people from around the world pray for the sick and their caretakers who work to relieve the pain of the sick.  Faith organisations mark this day by providing food, medicines, and spiritual guidance to the sick. Prayer is one of the greatest way we can show our love to people we care about. We pray to also stand in place for those who are weak, unable to pray for themselves or in hard/difficult situations. We have a deep communication with God, creating relationship and sharing our feeling and utmost thoughts through prayer. My prayers to the sick all around the world, those who spend time to care for them and help to ease...

Happy International Men’s Day!!!... The International Men’s Day was founded by Dr. Jerome Teelucksingh with the aim to give hope to the depressed, faith to the lonely, transcend barriers, eliminate stereotypes, comfort the heart-broken and create a more caring humanity. It is believed the male gender must be strong, hide pain, not show form of weakness, and many other features believed to exhibit the masculinity of a man. Like the saying “don’t cry you are a man’. I urge us to use this day as an opportunity to show support to men out there (partner, siblings, friend etc.) show them love, pray for them and be a shoulder they can lean on, open up to, encourage them with your words, shower them with gifts.  They deserve to be loved and taken care of too. They sacrifice a lot, hide a lot pain in order to make their families happy, provide and protect them. To our beloved fathers, husbands, brothers, uncles, sons, cousins, nephews, friends, colleagues, partners and relatives...

Let me not defer it or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again by Stephen Grellet.   World kindness day is an international event which is observed 13th November yearly. It was introduced by a coalition of nations’ kindness NGOs in 1998. Many countries like Australia, Canada, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates. Even Singapore which observed it first time in 2009.
